            New Beginnings

The tan-colored sprout was hard at work. Her dark eyes were concentrated on the needle as it went through the outer edge of the bucket shaped sac. It was almost complete.
"Calliope? Oh Calliope-" The door to the small room was opened before the older Bean looked down at her. Despite how close they were, the distance between them seemed to stretch for miles. She was mute and it was barrier between spoken and unspoken that had set the two apart.
"Are you excited for your first trial?" the caregiver questioned. The small bean looked down at her sac before slowly nodding her head.
"Well...I made your favorite just in case you get hungry" her smile was weak as she placed the small parcel down, the label "PBJ" sticking up in the air. Calliope only gave a weak smile until the silence became too heavy, causing the caregiver to take a slow step back and close the door.

        The Big Journey

The Human World. She heard a few stories but here she stood. Her tan skin glistened in the hot sun. Dark locks waved in the warm breeze as her toes dug into the sand. Calliope shivered at the feeling. The bucket shaped sac was dropped before she crouched down. Her hand dug in before pulling the sandwich. It was her favorite. With a small smile, her odd digits began to peel away the paper until a sound reached her ears. Looking up, she could see the water from the sea reach up, white foam grasping the crushed earth. Calliope had even seen an ocean before or didn't even think about it until now. Even now she watched, watching the tide sink back before come forward. It was almost if it was beckoning her. The peanut butter and jelly sandwich was put back into her bag before she stood up. The young woman was hesitant as she approached the sea. There was contact. There was a short gasp and then a silent giggle as the chilled water tickled her toes. It was even more of an reason to go in. She waded in pass the breaking water and up to her knees until she stopped. The endless blue was still calling to her. The sound even louder in her eyes. Closing her eyes, Calliope dove in.
Silence. It was the sweetest sound she had ever heard. Despite the world above the surface, it was the world below that made her eyes widen and glitter. It was almost as if she was tearing up. This world understood her. This world said so much without words. It was a place where she belonged. There was a wide grin as Calliope swam deeper, getting closer to the reefs. Fish swan back and forth but none of them seemed to catch her interest. For some time she swan up to the surface and back down, exploring this new world until at the end of the reef all the fish stayed away from one creature. Calliope froze as she gazed upon it. It was...beautiful. It's purple translucent drifted in the current. Ribbon like tendrils waved as it's body aimlessly floated. She was transfixed on it, causing her to get close. She didn't understand why no fish went near it. Her hands hovered close, almost encasing the small creature until there was a sharp pain. Her mouth opened in a silent scream before instinct drove her body upward to catch her breath. Calliope hissed in pain but she didn't swim away. Maybe it was scared...Taking a deep breath, she went back down, finding the creature once more. Her hands went close, this time staying away from the silk-like tentacles. Instead her finger touched the top. She winced but there was no pain. In that moment, a newfound sense of fascination washed over the small woman. It was soft yet slimy and yet it was all together. It felt like jelly. Calliope smiled. Just like jelly...

        Home At Last

Her body twisted and turned passing through the portal and taking that potion to turn her back. Despite how uncomfortable it was good to back to her normal self. The wizard looked down at her, smiling as he noticed her new bag.
"So" Fabian chuckled, "Do you have anything for me?" Her eyes widened. She forgot to get something. Her hands dug until her back until she felt the wrapped sandwich in her back. Her gaze softened as her fingers felt the softness and the jelly seeping through the parcel as she pulled it out. With a small smile, she handed the sandwich to the older bean. Calliope thought he was going to be upset but instead he gave a soft smile in return. His hand ruffled her hair.
"Well done." His voice was gentle as he took the sandwich before in return giving a potion in return. "Your story has just begun, little Calliope."
